Barbara Goston is the heart of Minden, known for her quiet, consistent service to others. What began as cooking meals with her grandson and handing them out from the trunk of her car has grown into "Food 4 the Soul," an organization that now feeds hundreds and brings the community together. Beyond meals, she offers compassion, mentorship, and hope — especially to young people she guides through service. Barbara doesn't just talk about love for her community — she lives it every single day.
Gloria Moody represents the heart and spirit of Minden through her lifelong dedication to education, community service, and the preservation of Black history. As an educator, mentor, and leader, she has inspired generations to understand their worth, their history, and their impact on the future. Even in retirement, she continues to give back — donating books, supporting local youth, and keeping history alive within her community.
Richard Scott's life was forever changed after a vehicle accident on December 1, 2024, left him paralyzed from the chest down. Now bedridden and unable to regulate his body temperature, maintaining a safe and comfortable environment has become a daily challenge. His home currently relies on window units that struggle to keep his room cool enough for his condition. His story reflects resilience, strength, and the power of a community coming together in times of need.
Sharlene Warren is a beloved "Memaw" in Minden, known for her heart of gold and endless generosity. Raised in Minden and having spent decades caring for children and volunteering at her church, Sharlene has been a cornerstone of the community. Always putting others first, she is the first to help anyone in need and greets everyone with a warm smile and a big hug. After the loss of her husband of 56 years, Sharlene continued to uplift everyone around her with grace and faith.
Brandi White is a proud United States Veteran who has dedicated her life to serving others — both in uniform and in her community. Through her work supporting veterans across Northwest Louisiana, she has impacted countless lives with her compassion, leadership, and unwavering commitment. Known for her selfless heart and tireless service, Brandi represents the very best of Minden and continues to put others before herself every single day.
